Tango Trasnoche is Norway's most popular Argentine tango
school. Our activities are classes, practice nights, milongas, performances,
import and sale of tango shoes and CDs. We also organise balls, concerts,
tangofestivals, and other special arrangements. Most of our activities
are concentrated in and around Oslo, but it also includes engagements
other places in Norway and abroad.
Our website offers the most updated and complete information on Argentine
tango in Norway. Tango Trasnoche is based in Oslo, and owned and run by
Jørn Knustad.

The teaching
Our main focus in dance and teaching can be summarised as this: contact,
communication, improvisation, and musicality. We like to combine elements
of the traditional tango in close embrace, with elements from the new
tango in open style. In our teaching pedagogic, we believe that working
with basic technique will lead the dancers to experience freedom in the
dance, in order to really be able to express themselves, to improvise,
and thereby use the music in their dance. As a consequence, the dance
will then consist of communicating with, and moving together with the
partner, more than performing fixed steps and figures. This focus is very
present in our workshops and classes, resulting in a balanced attention
to both the followers as well as the leaders role. When teaching figures,
we are working on breaking the figures into steps and smaller sequences,
thus inviting the students to a more free and improvised dance. In total,
all this has merely one simple aim; to experience an exciting and comfortable
dance in harmony with the partner and the music.

The instructors
Jørn Knustad, Oslo:
Jørn started instructing in 1999, and went full time professional in 2001.
Jørn is in constant search of inspiration from many different sources.
As a consequence, he has taken classes with practically all internationally
acclaimed instructors, at last count, more than 50 different instructors
or couples! He creates his personal style by melting elements from different
tango maestros such as Eric Jörissen, Chicho & Lucia/Eugenia, Pablo Verón,
Gustavo Naveira, Claudia & Esteban, and Fabian Salas. To further develop
his dancing and teaching, Jørn is a frequent traveller around Europe,
and he also goes for longer visits to Buenos Aires. He is often seen at
different tangofestivals all over Europe. He has visited, or been involved
in more than 50 tangofestivals.
Jørn is also
a popular DJ. In addition to play on numerous occasions in Oslo, he has
been the DJ at Bergen
Tango Festival seveal years, at Tango
Primavera/Otoño Festival in Stockholm several years, and for four
years he was the unofficial DJ on the nightly beach promenade dance during
the Sitges Tango Festival
in Spain. He has also played in Germany and England.
